1. Prerequisites

  • VMware Workstation or VMware Player installed on your computer.
  • Minimum 8 GB of RAM (16 GB or more recommended).
  • At least 50 GB of free disk space.
  • Internet connection for downloading EVE-NG and other necessary files.

2. Download EVE-NG

Visit the official EVE-NG website and download the Community Edition (OVA file):

3. Install VMware Workstation/Player

Download and install the latest version of VMware Workstation or Player from the official VMware site.

4. Create a Virtual Machine

1. Open VMware Workstation/Player.
2. Click on "File" > "Open" and select the downloaded OVA file.
3. Follow the prompts to import the virtual machine.

5. Configure the Virtual Machine

1. Right-click on the imported VM and select "Settings".
2. Allocate resources:
   - 2 CPUs (or more)
   - Minimum 8 GB RAM
   - Network Adapter: Set to “Bridged” or “NAT”
3. Ensure the "Connect at power on" option is enabled for the network adapter.
4. Click "OK" to save the settings.

6. Start EVE-NG

1. Power on the EVE-NG virtual machine.
2. Wait for the system to boot up. This may take a few minutes.

7. Access EVE-NG Web Interface

1. Open a web browser.
2. Enter the IP address provided in the VM console (e.g., http://192.168.x.x).
3. Use the default credentials:
   - Username: admin
   - Password: eve

8. Basic Configuration

1. After logging in, it’s recommended to change the default password:
   - Click on your username (top-right corner) > Edit Profile > Change Password.
2. Configure additional settings as required based on your network topology.
3. Upload and configure images as needed for different networking devices.
